Fast

To start any type of cleanse, you need to rid your body of the food that it needs to digest for at least 24 hours. A good fast will be able to help your body prepare for the cleanse. You should focus on drinking water during the fast as this will aid in digestion and can help to push out any stools that are left in the intestines. Water also aids in preventing dehydration and can help you to lose weight. Some people prefer to add a little bit of lemon to their water and use hot water with lemon before they go to bed.

Raw Foods

Once your body has completed the fast, you will start eating a lot of raw foods. This will last for 1 week and you will eat all different types of vegetables and fruits. These foods are great for digestion but they also include a lot of vitamins and nutrients. The deep green vegetables are the best as they are high in fiber and rich in Vitamin C.

Grains

After the first week you will introduce grains back into your diet. The grains will need to be kept to a limit of no more than 2 per day. Opt for healthy grains like brown rice along with quinoa.

Slowly introduce meats back into your diet as well. Fish is one of the best to start with as it’s low in fat and high in nutrients. Keep your meat intake to a limit as well. It’s actually recommended that you do not eat meat on a daily basis and instead learn to get your proteins from other sources like nuts.

When you are detoxing your body it is common to feel poorly for about a day or two. This is showing you how dependant you have become to unhealthy foods. After the first few days when you clean all the unhealthy foods from your system and your body learns to rely on vitamins and minerals again, you should start feeling better.

Detoxing your body helps you to reset the body and to break your bad habits of soda, fast foods, and other unhealthy snacks. Try doing this at least 1-2 times a year in order to maintain your health and to teach yourself how to eat healthier.
